KSMH is committed to achieving its goals by pursuing the following actions:
- Actively engage the government to recognize and respect the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Promote complete inclusiveness of persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Pressurise the government on giving support services to persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Make the government aware that the persons with intellectual disabilities have rights to supported decision-making and equality before the law.
- Carry out civic education programmes before national elections and referendums for persons with intellectual disabilities in the form of augmentative and alternative modes of communications (AAC).
- Promote AAC in all processes of judiciary, law and order for persons with intellectual disabilities to express themselves asserting their rights.
- Promote early identification of persons living with intellectual disabilities including those hidden and/or abandoned in families, communities etc.
- Engage a multidisciplinary team of specialists in assessment and intervention services specially needed by persons with intellectual disabilities and their families.
- Rescue and provide basic rights interventions to the rejected, abused, abandoned, neglected, caged, chained and isolated persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Provide support services for affected mothers and families in promoting acceptance, understanding and quality management of individual special needs of their persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Provide supported access to human rights and social justice by persons with intellectual disabilities in exercising of their individual legal capacities.
- Articulate for the legal recognition of supported decision making and consent exercised by persons with intellectual disabilities to protect their interests, reduce social injustices and human rights violations.
- Advocate for inclusive legal and institutional policy frameworks, which are persons with intellectual disabilities special needs sensitive.
- Income Generating Initiatives in support of mothers and caregivers of persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Mainstreaming the special needs of persons with intellectual disabilities in development and in particular government programs in areas of social, health, education, rehabilitation, training, HIV/AIDS etc
