Kennedy PDF Print E-mail

Kennedy Gicharu Gathiaka, featured in the CNN Documentary, has already received lots of support from well-wishers, and is currently being sponsored by an Anonymous South African Company.

KSMH would like to thank Kennedy’s sponsors and donors, and would like to request prospective sponsors and donors to support:

  • Thomas Kavesa Matoke – featured in the CNN Documentar

  • Joseph – featured in the CNN Documentary
  • Or one of the other families featured in ‘Adopt a Family’ or from the Case Stories page.

Please note that Kennedy is only one of the millions of people in our country who desperately require help, and when KSMH did the story with CNN, our aim was to expose to the Government of Kenya and the world at large, the suffering of over 3.6 million people with intellectual disabilities in Kenya. So far, all the help that has been received has gone to Kennedy, and not the many others who are in the same difficult situation.

KSMH is also looking into ways of getting the government to become responsible over this sector of Kenyans who are currently not receiving any government service.

On another front, we  as an organisation are looking for partners to help contribute towards the ongoing process of making new laws and policies under Kenya’s new constitution. This will help sustain support for the families including Kennedy’s.
