The work of Kenya Society for persons with intellectual disabilities has been outstanding in one very important aspect.  It has done work that has never been done before in Kenya; and has initiated programmes that have been groundbreaking in their scope and implementation.  The Society has done all this work in spite of high levels of stigma and discrimination associated with intellectual disabilities in Kenya.
All persons with intellectual disabilities have their unalienable human rights.  KSMH’s work has consistently been towards realization

of these rights for persons with intellectual disabilities.  Some of these rights are as follows:

  • Right to Life
  • Right to Dignity
  • Right to Care
  • Right to Education
  • Right to Information
  • Right to Support Services (medical and social security)
  • Right to Justice
  • Right to Free Expression and Free Choice
  • Right to Representation
